School Prize Giving 2011
The Annual Prize Awarding Ceremony 2011 of Kottawa Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya was held on 7th of June 2012 at 1.30 p.m. at the auditorium of Maharagama National Youth Service Council under the patronage of Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Agrarian Development, Minor Irrigation, Industry and Environment Affairs of Western Provincial Council, Udaya Gammanpila as the chief guest and Prof. Premakumara de Silva, the Head of the Department of Socialogy and Senior Student Counsellor of the University of Colombo as the special guest.
The students who showed exellent performance an academic and co-curricular activities were awarded the certificates and prizes.
The teachers who have obtained less number of leave and those who were dedicated in uplifting the GC.E. O/L and A/L results above 85% were also highly commended.
The dancing troupe and the ochestra of the school brighten this memorable occasion.

A Swimming Pool to Alma Mater!!!
According to our principal Lt. Y. Yasarathne’s idea, the foundation stone for the new swimming pool complex was laid on 27-10-2011 at 10.27 a.m. at the proposed land portion of school compound.
Among the distinguished guests Hon. Ministers Dinesh Goonawarghane, Gamini Lokuge and Provincial Minister Hon. Upali Kodikara were also present.

Badminton: Kottawa Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya clinched the All-Island Under 16 Badminton Tournament title when they beat Holy Family Convent, Wennappuwa by 3 matches to 2 in the final at St. Thomas' Bandarawela Indoor Stadium.
The Kottawa Dharmapala team comprised: Aseni Warsha, Ayesha Madurange, Pumi Kausalya, Sithara Buddhini (Capt.) Kulani Rabel (Vice-Captain), Imasha Sithumini and Dasuni Thothsavani.
In previous years, Kottawa Dharmapala Maha Vidyalaya secured the under 12 'E' division title in 2006, the under 14 'E' division title in 2009 and the under 16 'D' division title last year.

Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Kottawa played a high standard of badminton to clinch both titles in the Girls and Boys events of the All Island Inter-school Under-12 Badminton Championship conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association at St. Anthony's College, Katugastota recently.
The Kottawa boys beat Leeds International School, Galle by 4-1 while Girls crushed Vidura International School, Nawala by 5-0 in the finals.
Eighty teams took part in this year's tournament and Dharmapala Vidyalaya was the first ever school which won both finals (Boys/Girls) in the E Division of the tournament's history.
Tharusha Agasthi Wijetilleke who excelled throughout the tournament, was awarded the Best Performer in the Boys championship while Sithara Buddhini who paved the way to win the Girls title, bagged the Best Performer award.
